The Best Guide for 3D2N Trip to Krabi, Thailand Complete with Budget: Part 1 - 7-Islands Hopping

I don't know how and when it started, but I think August is the month of me travelling with Zie. This has been two years in a row and I couldn't ask for a perfect getaway.

So, basically, it started when my Sabah trip gang discussed about going to Mabul Island for this year trip. Two of them dropped out, and when we changed plan from Mabul to Krabi, another two dropped out. Leaving Zie, T, me and another new friend en route to Thailand getaway.

As usual, flight ticket was bought. You all can search for better and cheaper ticket; but we bought the first slightly cheap ticket that we could find. Even that, we had to change our plan from going from Saturday-Monday to Sunday-Tuesday. But it's better since weekdays are less busy than weekends anyway.

We took early morning flight (7.30am) and arrived at Krabi International Airport at 7.30am local time (Thailand timezone is later than Malaysia at 1 hour) so basically, it's early and we have plenty of time to spend that day. I already booked an airport transfer at Krabi Shuttle It is so easy to book airport transfer with them. Basically you just fill in a form at the website with your flight details, your accommodation name and your name and when you arrive, they will pick-up at the airport by holding a sign with your name on it. They will drive you to your accommodation with no hassle.

Just one disappointment; I requested a luxury SUV but the one that arrived is a van. Well, it's big and comfortable enough for four of us but we really did want the SUV (just for fun, you know. Haha)

This is our ride. Can you imagine just four of us in this big van?

Arrive at the hotel

One-way Airport transfer = 780 Baht.

Before we depart to the hotel, I went to the sim card booth to buy unlimited 4G sim card for only 100 Baht.

Before that, we have also booked a hotel through booking.com . Zie and I went through a lot of choices of hotels before settling on this one and the reason was; it has a swimming pool!

The Ri Hotel is not only affordable, it is also very clean and the staffs are very friendly. It is 15 mins walk to Aonang Beach (some people might think this is far but to us it's a fair journey so we don't mind). It is also pretty quiet and private enough so it's not so noisy at night. When we arrived, I said my name and the staff at the counter has already printed all our accommodation details. They are so sufficient and the check-in process is fast and easy! We also got to check-in early even though it was just 8.00am because I added a note in the booking for early check-in / luggage storage if no rooms are available.

2 rooms / 2 nights include breakfast = 2,175 Baht
Each person paid = 543 Baht

After check-in and put away our luggage in the room, we went out in hunt for island packages. Since we need to look for more information, we sought for the staffs at the hotel for recommendations. To our surprise, the staffs not only give us suggestions, but also discounts!

DAY 1: 7 Island Hopping

A tuk-tuk arrived to pick us up to the Aonang Jetty.

We waited at the jetty for an hour to gather all people who join the tour package before the boat arrive and we were given stickers to differentiate us and other tours. In total, there are 13 people on the boat not including the tour guide and the boat driver (?).

Our boat is on the left

First stop is Tup Island. We were given life jacket and googles for snorkeling and swimming around the island. It is two islands connected with each other through a sand bank.

Next, we're off to Taming Island or Poda Island for more swimming, rest and pictures. Note that we will not be given lunch, so that's why we had such heavy brunch earlier on.

Next stop; Chicken Island. The boat stopped at several point at the open sea and we were told we can swim and snorkeling at those points. That's when I understand that the 7 island tour is not exactly stopping at 7 islands; it's more like 7 points around 4 islands. (I mean, I already researched this many times on google before we depart so I was prepared). They gave free mineral waters as well as fruits for snacks. The pineapples and watermelons served are very sweet and perfect for sea day.

Later on, we arrived at Phranang Beach for rest before dinner.

From Phranang Beach, we walked all the way to the other side of the island to the Railay beach where the tour guide prepare our dinner. We had dinner while watching the sunset.

After dinner, we walked all the way to the jetty where the boat was waiting for us. Because of the sunset, the low tide has forced the boat to stop quite far from where they dropped us. So we had to walk quite a mile to reach the boat.

For the last trip, the boat took us to open sea to see the plankton. I wasn't brave enough to swim at the dark sea so Zie, Ij and I stayed on the boat while T went for a swim. To be honest, we couldn't see the plankton very well, but when the boat turned off the light, the tour guide took a bucket filled with sea water and poured the water into the boat, and we all squealed in delight when we saw sparkling plankton pouring into the boat. The pictures above can only be seen because small lights were held under the water so the blue lights that the plankton gave off.

The tour ended at 10pm, and they dropped us off at the hotel for us to rest.

We off to Phi phi Island next, so stay tune for more.

See ya, lovelies!
