Skyville Zen Resort (One Night Stay) : A review

It's a retreat-styled resort, far enough from the bustling city and about 30 minutes away from Pekan Kundasang, Skyville Zen Resort is perfect if you're searching for a calming accommodation surrounded by tropical forest and beautiful mountain views.

I have absolutely nothing to complain about my stay here in Skyville. The resort is clean, beautiful, relatively new-looking, and the staffs are really friendly and helpful.

Though at one point of the night, (I think around 3am) there was a blackout but I don't exactly notice until Zie who still haven't slept, woke me up to call the staff (the electricity is back in 30 minutes or so) I'm sure they have a generator or something for emergency.

With 30 rooms available, it has two types of room (twin and triple) with reasonable rate. Clean enough for solat, the size of the room is also decent and each room comes with cups, bottle water and sachets of tea and coffee. They also provide towels, bath gel, shampoo, shower caps, toothbrushes and toothpaste! Is it just me or this is the first time I see a resort with this low price that provides all these complete toiletries?

There is no TV available in the room, but why would you need a TV when you can enjoy the tranquility of nature outside? Also there is no air-conditioner because it's already cold here in Kundasang. (So don't be like Zie; searching for aicond remote when she got into the room (haha))

There is water heater outside the room for sharing if you want some hot water for drinks or cook instant noodles. They also provide washing machine for your convenience and you can use all these for free. Ask for the hair dryer and iron if you need them too.

yes, that is my luggage there, waiting for others to come out

There is also a stone table with stone bench outside for the guests to enjoy the view. My group and I spent most of our night in here enjoying our dinner and chatting. There is a spotlight that you can turn on so you don't have to sit in the dark.

A few extra amenities are also provided for the guests here including a kitchen for you to cook your meals, and a big, clean meeting room. You can use them freely, as said by the staffs.

Note: There are a few dogs loitering around the lobby building, but don't worry as the rooms are built away from the lobby, and you have to walk up a small steep road to get to the rooms and the dogs doesn't wander off to the guest rooms.

The staffs also guaranteed us that they locked the dogs behind at the outer building at night to avoid them disturbing the guests especially the Muslims.

To get here, you just have to look for the sign Skyville Zen Resort along the left side of the road after you pass Kinabalu Park. Turn left and drive up the hill until you reach the entrance gate.
