The Best Guide for 3D2N Trip to Krabi, Thailand Complete with Budget: Part 3 - Hot Spring, Emerald Pool & Blue Pool

The last day in Krabi and we are dreading the fact we have to go back. But on the bright side, we already planned a full day of fun ahead of us before departing to airport so that's a plus!

Before that, I would like to introduce this delicious coffee for those travelling to Krabi. It's cheap and tasty and most probably you can only have it here. I don't know; I haven't seen this coffee anywhere in Malaysia yet, haha.

Aat 9.00am, a van picked us up at the hotel along with our luggage (the van will be sending us off to the airport after the tour). The first stop is the Hot Spring.

Some people might not agree with me, but in my opinion you can skip this place entirely when you go to Krabi. First off, the hot spring is only in name; the river is only lukewarm at most, and there's too many people bathing there that the water turn murky and it's so hard to get a perfect picture of the spring. However it's not dirty per se, it's just that our timing sucks and we found a diaper full of kid's **** just RIGHT BESIDE the hot spring and we just couldn't wait to get out of there.

However, our trip to the Emerald Pool is pretty nice. I highly suggest you should visit this place when you are in Krabi

Emerald Pool is a natural underground spring, and the spring is very green and you can marvel at the sight of it. You have two choices when you arrive; whether to walk down the normal dirt road for 0.8 km or walk down the boardwalk where you can enjoy the stream of water and nature for 1.4 km. Personally, we chose the boardwalk so we can get more pictures taken and enjoy the scenery.

And yes, you may swim in the pool! The water is cool and there is a changing room not far from the pool. But be careful as the pool is surrounded by very slippery rocks so wear comfortable shoes and be cautious; as I was sitting there for a few minutes and I already saw 3 people slipped and fell on their butts. Urgh that gotta be hurt. I'm not kidding, please be very careful. There are tree branches and very dangerous rocks around so walk slowly.

One of things we were waiting for on this trip; was to see the Blue Pool. Once we arrived, we were so disappointed to learn that Blue Pool was closed! Yes, it was closed! Apparently there is a season of bird nesting/hatching (??) or something so they closed down the road to the Blue Pool as to not disturb the ecosystem. I know it's important to protect the birds and all but it's not everyday we come to Krabi so we're fairly (very) disappointed and devastated as I had done all my research and never found out that the Blue Pool closed down on certain months.. So if you plan to go see the Blue Pool, please note that:

Blue Pool is open from 10.00am to 3.00pm
January to April / November to December
Closed from: May to October.

As we couldn't go inside to see the pool, here is the picture I got from seekrabi.com. Now you see why we wanted to see it so much.

After walking around for a while, we decided to go out to the front entrance and get some lunch. There are a few stalls around the area for you to get food and we managed to eat some nasi goreng before our time is up (we were given a specific amount of time to spend at the Emerald Pool) before the tour guide called us to get to the van.

The driver dropped us off at the airport and we spent some time refreshing ourselves before getting into the plane and fly back to Malaysia.

That was one of the most relaxing and nicest weekend getaway I had. And even we were out in the sun so much, we didn't get sunburn at all thanks to the sunscreen that I got haha!

In all, if you're new to travel and backpacking, I highly recommend Krabi as your first destination. It's cheap, easy to get around, full with halal food, and a lot of them know simple Malay and English so you can  easily interact with the locals with no issue.

See ya, lovelies!
